Stephanie + Frank 04.25.08 (Part 1)

One of my favorite wedding venues on the “Jersey Shore” is Bonnet Island Estate. It offers the perfect combination of country charm and elegance. Couples can have their wedding ceremony in the quaint boathouse, cocktails on an expansive open veranda overlooking the bay and then dance the night away in the formal ballroom. Stephanie and Frank had such a perfect spring day for their “shore” wedding with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 60’s! Her Amsale gown was stunning! When Frank first saw her for their portraits, he said she looked like a beautiful wedding cake. Her gown was certainly delish! She paired her beautiful gown with a great pair of Jimmy Choo shoes too. The springtime floral theme of pink flowers was beautifully done by MDS Floral Designs. Check out the pretty cans of flowers that were hung in the windows of the boathouse. There were so many pretty details; I’m going to do this wedding in 2 parts. I’ll put up some images from the ceremony and reception tomorrow.

Marie, I am as much in love with your work now as I was when I first saw it years ago. Everything is always unfailingly beautiful. You have such a wonderful eye.

I remember seeing that dress on the runway and it took my breath away. Not only is the dress absolutely stunning, but the bride is too. Beautiful pictures!!

Bridal Hair Fashion

As many of my brides know, a veil is no longer the only option to adorn your locks on your wedding day. From birdcage veils to feathered combs the possibilities are endless. Yesterday I was very fortunate to photograph some of the beautiful bridal headgear of milliner, Holly Slayton of Artikal. Holly has been designing hats and bridal veils for many years and her bridal headgear was just picked up by Kleinfelds Bridal. You go Holly! What fun we had! I took so many images during the 6 hour shoot and it’s going to take me several weeks before I’m finished working on them all. I picked out a few of my initial favorite head shots to share with you (as a teaser). I’ll have some more images to share from this shoot in the coming weeks. Wait until you see the magnificent gowns! Hair and makeup for the shoot was provided by the always amazing Claudia Seyler. Claudia’s talent never ceases to amaze me. She just creates look after look for me to photograph. We have such fun doing our editorial shoots together. It’s sort of like we are 6 years girls old again dressing our Barbie dolls. Our beautiful model was Anelisa, an actress from NYC. Her expressive eyes made the shoot so varied and beautiful. Thanks everyone for this really creative and fun day!

I just found out that I was voted one the best wedding photographers in New Jersey in The Knot’s 2008 Best of Weddings issue. I try my best! I wanted to send out a big ‘thank you’ to all those who voted for me and for the kind words you had to say about my photography. In addition my studio was also chosen as the editor’s pick! Double thanks!

Beka + Jesse

What fun! I got to drive down to Harrisburg, PA on Sunday to check out the location of Beka and Jesses September wedding and to do a few engagement portraits. I was so honored when Beka asked me to photograph her wedding. Beka Nave, of Innove Events, is one of Philadelphia’s top event planners. Whenever we work on a wedding together it always gets featured in a magazine and I expect the same of her wedding (fingers crossed). Beka is going to start sharing details of her wedding planning on Innoves blog, so you might want to check in there! She will be marring her long time love Jesse Rendell on her birthday! Let’s hope Jesse never forgets their anniversary! Jesse is the son of Pennsylvania’s Governor Ed Rendell so their wedding will be taking place at the Governors residence. Beka has big plans for the grounds! I know that Nancy Saam will be working with Beka on the décor and flowers and Peachtree and Ward will be catering the event (yumm).

Beka and Jesse wanted to do a “family portrait” with their two adorable “kids” and we then went around Harrisburg looking for sites to do fun portraits on their wedding day. I think we found a few, especially the great train station. Congratulations Beka and Jesse! I’m really looking forward to capturing your day!

Kelly + Martin 04.05.08

It was finally starting to look like spring in New Jersey. All week long they had predicted April showers for Kelly and Martins April wedding, but they hit the “weather jackpot” when the morning of their wedding the forecast changed to a beautiful blue sky day! This was very good news as they had planned an outdoor ceremony! Their wedding was held at The Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. It’s an amazing location with acres of beautiful art and foliage. Their ceremony was held on a Sculpture called The Nine Muses by Carlos Dorrien. I loved her Melissa Sweet gown. It was so very unique with sheer tulle on the bottom of her skirt.

And the Winner is…

WPPI, an international Wedding and Portrait Photography Organization held their annual print competition in Las Vegas last month and I just found out I won 3 Accolades of Excellence (which translates to awards). This year WPPI had over 2700 print entries from photographers all around the world, so it was quite an honor. Here are my 3 winners. The first one was shot at the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. It’s a beautifully decaying prison that is said to be haunted! Yikes!!!
