A New Years Resolution for 2010
Happy New Year everyone! Here is to another decade of photographing the art of love. What a way to make a living! I’m a lucky girl and I want to thank all the beautiful and creative couples that have graced me with their weddings. I’ve sort of given up on traditional New Years resolutions. Let’s face it, if I do lose the weight, I’m only going to gain it back. My New Years resolutions are more “wishes” for the New Year. For 2010 my wish is to photograph a European wedding. Every Summer I go off to Europe for fun and inspiration. In my travels I’m always visualizing brides and grooms in my images. I adore world travel and I adore photographing weddings. Combining the two in a European wedding is one of my dreams and has continued to elude me. Though I’ve had requests, I’ve never had dates available. I know from my blog tracking that you European brides are always chatting about me. Why not drop me an email and help me keep my New Years resolution. I can see you in my pictures. Carlys Monique Lhuillier gown was such a hit with brides around the US and around the world. I can’t tell you the amazing response I received from fashionistas everywhere! Well, I just found out that some of Carly and Dans images are being featured on on Monique Lhuilliers own web site. You all know my passion for bridal fashion and Monique Lhuillier has always been one of my favorites. What an honor. The website has a section under The World of Monique Lhuillier that feature real Monique Lhuillier brides. Congratulations Carly! You wore the gown so well!
Philadelphia Wedding Blizzard of ‘09 Gets National Coverage
How exciting! “Some of the prettiest pictures I’ve ever seen…” said reporter Rick Folbaum of America’s Newsroom on the Fox News Channel! Thanks Rick! Stephanie and Anthony are certainly making the news rounds. They were not only the cover story of the Philadelphia Daily News yesterday, but they were also interviewed on Fox Philadelphia yesterday morning. Fox News National called me requesting images from their wedding for today’s program. It’s very exciting seeing my images on Nation Television. I do hope that Chelsea Clinton was watching Fox News Channel.
Philadelphia Blizzard of ‘09
Extra, extra, read all about it! Check out todays issue of The Philadelphia Daily News. As some of you may know I photographed a wedding last weekend in Philadelphia last Saturday right in the largest snow storm to ever hit Philadelphia in December. 23 inches of snow fell with fierce winds. Stephanie and Anthonys story was just so amazing that they made the cover of The Philadelphia Daily News. Make sure to check it out. I would just like to give a shout out to some of the amazing vendors that turned this very difficult day into a beautiful event to be remembered always. Donna O’Brien of Beautiful Blooms, Makeup and hair stylist Claudia Seyler who was my roomie for the night as we were trapped in the city and the The Ritz-Carlton of Philadelphia with was able to host the couples wedding on 2 hours notice when their guests could not be transported to their original venue. I’ll be telling you more about this amazing wedding and the outstanding job the couple did next week, but for now I just want to congratulate my “Covergirl” and guy on the beautiful cover feature of their wedding. Carolyn + Steven 12.05.09 Part 2
It was my first time at St Clements Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. What a perfect backdrop for a warm and glowing holiday wedding ceremony. I particularly loved the sweet moment between Carolyn and Steve as their matron of honor signed the historic marriage ledger. We then went on to the wedding reception at The Franklin Institute. As you can see the lighting and décor were shockingly gorgeous thanks to the combined efforts of Leila Miller of Eclatante Event Design and Beautiful Blooms! The lighting design was just beyond steller! Leila told me one of the reasons Carolyn and Steve chose the Franklin Institute was because of their million dollar lighting system. The couples dance lessons really paid off as they beautifully danced the night away!
Carolyn + Steven 12.05.09 Part 1
No, it was not the Philadelphia Blizzard of ‘09, but it was the first snow of the season and Carolyn was prepared! Despite the inclement weather Carolyn and Steve wanted romantic pictures around town and Carolyn found the cutest pair of “bridal” snow boots (just in case). The “choreography” of a wedding in a “nor’easter” can by overwhelming, but with the incredible help of event planner Leila Miller of Eclatante Event Design it ran as smoothly as a sunny summer day! As with many December Brides, Carolyn confessed that she secretly wished for snow on her wedding day. She said that the lace on her gown reminded her of snowflakes, which was why she chose it. Well, Carolyn did get what she wished for. Makeup and hairstylist Claudia Seyler stayed on hand most of the day to keep Carolyn looking perfect throughout the day. This was just such a brilliant idea on a “weather challenged” day! Carolyns preperations took place at The Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia. The couple met in the lobby for a romantic “first look” before heading off to Waterworks on the Schuylkill River. Carolyn was lucky to have Steven to keep her warm, as there were bone chilling winds blowing off the river.
Jessica + Jason Featured in The Knot Pennsylvania!
Congratulations to Jessica and Jason on the beautiful feature of their wedding in the current issue of The Knot Pennsylvania! Though I am very fortunate to have many of my weddings featured in magazines each year, this one was particularly special to me. As many of you know, Jessica has worked for me as a photographer for nearly 8 years. Always creating beautiful images for couples, her wedding was her own special creation and she had allot of inspiration from our couples over the years. The Knot agreed it was a beauty worth sharing. Jenna + Tony
OK, is this just the cutest idea for a save the date card? Have your pooch let everyone know. Jenna and Tonys dog was the most well behaved boxer I ever met. He just perfectly posed for his “closeup” (as did his mom and dad)! I wonder if he will be invited to the wedding. The couple will be getting married at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ next Spring. It’s my first time photographing a wedding there and I can’t wait. This past fall Donald Trumps own daughter Ivanka was married at the golf club!
Beka + Jesse Featured in Brides Magazine National
Congratulations to Beka and Jesse Rendell on the beautiful NATIONAL feature article of their “VIP” wedding in the January issue of Brides Magazine. For those of you who were fans of Bekas amazing event (and I know there were many), make sure to pick up a copy now. Brides Magazine January is only on the stands for a month. Beka Rendell is one of Philadelphia’s extraordinary event planners. Her company, Innove Events, oversees numerous beautiful events each year. It was only natural when she planned her own wedding it was going to be something really special. With the Pennsylvania Governors Mansion in Harrisburg, PA as the backdrop of her day she put together a magical wedding that was the talk of the “blogosphere” last year. Kudos also goes out to Nancy Saam Flowers, Peachtree and Ward Catering and Claudia Seyler Hair and Makeup!
Carly + Dan 11.14.09 The Reception
I’ve always loved the grand historic ballroom at the Hotel DuPont. You can just feel the history. Beautiful Blooms of Philadelphia designed all the decor for the reception, and as you can see, it was just breathtaking. Loved it! Providing the entertainment was CTO Park Avenue. A really great band who kept the party moving all night. Everyone got into the action during the horah. Both sets of parents were carried high. What a wonderful evening had by all!
Marie, I can’t wait to see your wish come true… it is destined to. Like you, I travel around the world and will see what most people will view as a pile of rubbish and rubble, but me, I envisage a woman in a fabulous ball gown standing amongst it all. I hope you shoot a gorgeous bride in Paris, walking in a park on a pebbled pathway (you could always do a ‘dummy’ wedding !!
